5. November 2025  EVENT

OPEN TALKS

Open Talks is a unique opportunity to hear directly from recently graduated alumni about their early career experiences. This year, we have three talented guest speakers who will share insights about their journeys as young designers, discussing the challenges, successes, and realities of transitioning from student life to the professional world.

Our guest speakers:

  • Julia Vegh – Independent designer running her own studio Link to website
  • Damian Byland – Independent designer running his own studio Link to website
  • Samuel Heitz – Digital Craft Leader at Oppenheim Architecture Link to Instagram

In addition to pursuing their individual design practices, Julia and Damian have recently launched a collaborative project called Nod (www.nod-design.ch). Working as a co-op, Nod Design is a creative platform shaping a timeless and sustainable way of living through objects made from honest materials and produced as locally as possible.

During this evening you can expect a little presentation of one of their projects, as well as an interview-style discussion about the alumni's career paths. The guest speakers will give you honest insights into early professional experiences. The talk will last approximately one hour, and we will finish with a Q&A session where you will get the chance to ask questions about careers, job searching, and professional development.

Whether you're curious about specific career paths, preparing for your own job search, or simply want to learn from those who were recently in your shoes, this is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable perspectives.
